A Thank You Note

Industrialized nations around the world have left us behind in the capacity to take care of its own citizens. Even Cuba, which is smashed by conservative media and has far less resources, has universal healthcare and has dealt with homelessness exceptionally well. This is clearly a sign of how submissive our government has become in facing corporations and when making enough effort to make a change and really work for that, it can happen even when your resources are scarce. It is not fair that more people will be dying because, our government can't stand up to individuals who believe more in profits than life. To the point that the government has become a subsidiary to the corporation.
As it happened after Carter, corporations reconquered the nation and convinced its people that the free market is better for all people. Just because a bill has passed it does not mean the fight is over, just because Bush is not in office does not mean all is well, just because...well...you get the hint. Corporations are working right now and they are ready to strike.
I’m glad there has been change occurring with the view on what we as people consider better for all people. I’m glad we are not simply waiting around for our government to save us and are taking more initiative on many key issues. As the founding fathers of this country spoke a good one but, were never for all the people by the people but, more like, for the wealthy by the wealthy. We are slowly overcoming the egocentric views and habits, forcibly internalized in all of us. Thanks to moveon.org for inspiring me to write this thank you note and thank you to all of those who have been fighting for all of us...for universal healthcare.
